ParticipantHi
Our Zanussi has just developed the unique ability to leave everything ‘cloudy’ after all wash cycles. The remaining residue effects predominatly glasses but also the inner walls of the machine, it is powdery in nature and comes off with the wipe of a finger or at most a light wash with water. The cutlery/crockery is clean of food but another symptom is that our stainless steel has quickly developed spot rust marks!
The Salt and Rinse Aid systems are full and we have tried washing with Fairy Active bursts, Finish tablets and no tablet at all – Yet little change!
Salt and Rinse Aid settings have been adjusted up and down (although it was working fine on its original settings!) – again, little apparent change!
Any and all help/suggestions would be hugely appreciated as we have just fallen out of warranty 🙁
Regards

Further investigation has found this is a salt problem…
So the question now becomes – Anyone know of problems that cause extreme SALT consumption for a DE6744? It got through a bag of salt in six days… 🙁

Yes… Seal is in good condition and cap screwing up securely.

I’m not familiar with that particular model or range, but there looks to be a few seals that may have failed. From what I can see none of them are particularly easy to get to. There is also the IWMS on it by the looks, so that could also be a cause.
Sorry if that’s not too much help but it’s as much as I can tell you from the info I have here.

Hi
Believe me, any direction to investogate is useful. I’m not advserse to dismantling the thing, so wonder what technical material your refering to?
Whilst I’m sure its not a great approach, i am tempted to run the thing out of Salt and just use the tablets 🙂

Having continued to browse this forum I found discussion “Zanussi DE6850 Salt Problem” which sounds VERY similar. However, the resolution there was user assembly error – so not quite goign to be m y problem as I have not taken it apart yet.
However, reference is made to sticking valves in the IWMS unit…. My quesiton is, are these serviceable/separate items or part of the IWMS beast itself – i.e. Whats the likelyhood of me fixing it?

The valve/seal assemblies are p/no 1523184-00/8 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get them for you if required.
Trouble is, they’re on the inboard side of the IWMS, so it’s all got to come out.

Did you solve your Problem SGeorge?
My Zanussi DCS14W is having the same sort of problems, cloudy and white residue on glasses, and stainless steel getting rust spots?
