    Hello. My 051 is showing error code 160. It does a wash and then stops and has to be advanced manually to empty and spin. Any ideas gratefully received.

    The drum is supposed to float off a splined drive shaft for the wash part of the programme. The fault is basically that the motor is labouring under the weight because the drum has not separated from the shaft.

    1) Gross overloading can do this.
    2) Air leak from bottom of drum will stop it floating.
    3) Drum may be simply jammed on the splines – try lifting and see if the drum moves.
    4) Item of laundry wrapped around the shaft can produce the same effect.

    Thanks for the advice Penguin45. The drum moves freely on the splines and was not overloaded. However I did not describe the problem quite correctly. The machine fills with water and then stops. It will not wash at all. You can use the advance button to get the water pumped out.
