Yesterday I went to empty my washing machine after having it on whilst I was out and the power had completely turned off. Icouldn’t get the power to turn back on at all so thought that it might be the fuse in the plug. I replaced the fuse and the power came on. Put a load of washing in and the drum would not turn but would make a whirring noise instead as is it was trying to turn but couldn’t. On spin the drum will only turn one way and just make whirring noise when trying to turn the other way. There was also an electrical burning type smell after a little while.

The machine is only 18 months old and I’ve not had any other problems with it at all. Please can someone advise me what might be wrong with it?

    Many thanks

    Re: Indesit WIE 1575 problem

    Hi Lisa,

I am afraid that it sounds like a motor problem. If it tries to turn the other way and it cannot then it will take more current and eventually it will trip or blow the fuse.

Your model may carry five years parts warranty. So the cheapest option may be to phone Indesit up and find out.You will only have to pay for their labour as the motor will be free(motor cost around £100).

Let us know if you need more info.

    Regards

One year only from Indesit. Probably time to consider something of rather better quality.

    Re: Indesit WIE 157S problem

I have edited the thread title, machine will almost certainly be a WIE157S. This machine may well have a five year parts guarantee if it is an ‘Evolution’ model. Check your documentation to see if that is the case. If it is then you will get all parts free and only have to pay the rather high labour charge, currently just under £90.00. 😥

    Jim.
