A new Smart washing machine from the Indesit Company, capable of regulating its own energy use based on cost and availability, was showcased at the Freescale Semiconductor Technology Forum in Orlando, Florida. Freescale used the forum to demonstrate its ability to help customers create “smart” products.
Indesit, based in Fabriano, Italy, engineered its Smart Washer with a Freescale ZigBee node and made it able to adjust its cycle starting time according to energy cost (in a variable costs environment) and green power availability””accessing this information from the local power utility via a ZigBee enabled Internet connection to the Smart Grid.
Freescale said its ZigBee technology helps designers reduce design complexity, lower bill of material costs, and deliver high performance solutions to help appliance engineers build ZigBee connected smart devices.
We’re not too sure about the monitor on top, seems a bit OTT and no, apparently it still doesn’t tell you what’s bust when it breaks down!
