ParticipantI HAVE FITTED LOTS OF WMA BEARINGS, BUT CAN’T SEE HOW THE BEARING SEAL SEALS, DOES IT SEAL ON THE SPIDER SHAFT OR ON THAT STAINLESS STEEL WASHER THING? I WORKED FOR HOTPOINT FOR MANY YEARS BUT OFCOURSE WE NEVER SIGHTED THE SEAL AS WE ALWAYS CHANGED THE COMPLETE DRUM.
JOHN
PS NEW TO THIS SITE SO HOPE I HAVE DONE IT CORRECTLY.

yes the seal pushes tight against the spider to hold it steady & the moving part of the seal is made between the rubber & steel parts which are greased at that point.
what ever happened to bearing kits that lasted 10 years!January 26, 2007 at 12:57 pm #202373JOHN CLARKE

what ever happened to bearing kits that lasted 10 years!THANKS,
IF PRODUCERS SORTED OUT THE BEARING PROBLEM LIVE WOULD BE MUCH EASIER, BUT THEN WE MIGHT ALL BE OUT OF WORK.January 26, 2007 at 4:39 pm #202374iadom

Hi John and welcome to the madhouse, can you tone it down a bit ( CAPS LOCK OFF) please. 😀
The bearing seal problem was more or less sorted a couple of years ago.The later seal is manufactured by Rubena and to date the only one of those that I have seen fail had an extra long tennis shoe lace wrapped around it. Of course the odd drum coming off the production line with no seal fitted ( it has happened ) is still likely to fail fairly soon. 😆

Seems a bit strange this but I’ve changed more WMA brngs than the Creda version, maybe they had different guys on that production line?!

Chris..Nah, it just down to numbers, Hotpoint sales would outnumber Creda by a massive margin.
