I went to a De Dietrich cooker hood today, not sure of the model number, I will have to check again with the customer. Both charcoal filters had holes in the sides and charcoal was escaping. The fuse had also blown. It looked as though the filter casings were charred but the fan casing did not look damaged and with a new fuse the motor seemed to run smoothly enough. There was some evidence of possible sparking at the 13 amp plug so that may have caused the fuse to go.
Customer has never changed the charcoal filters in 6 years use so we looked in the instruction book to see how often they should be changed. It says change them every 2 months 😯 There are 2 filters so if they cost say £20 each this would work out at £240 a year! What should I recommend as a suitable life for charcoal filters?

I always recommend that the hood is vented to external air and bin the things as they are then not required, only the grease filter is needed then.

Other than that I usually recommend 3-6 months depending on the use and type of cooking that the customer does.

Thanks. Not sure if this one can be vented as it appears to have no provision for a hose connection or any form of bypass mechanism.
