ParticipantHi
My machine isn’t draingin at the end of the cycle and I’ve checked the impellor, outflow pipe and the non-return valve but still no joy. The impellor is working and the pump is grunting away but sounds stuck against something. I’d like to have a look at the gubbins underneath the pan but can’t see how to access this. I’ve removed the torx screws on the side at the bottom but the kickplate only moves forward an inch or so and no more. I’d appreciate any advise on how best to proceed. ThanksJanuary 31, 2007 at 9:00 pm #202916Penguin45

Lower plinth can only be removed if you take the side panels off first. Side panels can only be removed if you take the lid off first.
Power off if you are going to poke about inside.

Thanks penguin
At the risk of sounding daft do you know how to take the lid off as I can’t work it out.

No need to bother surely? The pump is accessed from inside the tub as you know. If the impellor rotates freely under power then the pump is fine. You need to remove the black rubber flap valve then blow down the grey drain hose to see if it is clear? Pop the flap valve and pump cover back on and BINGO!

Hi Martin
I tried the return valve thingy last night and no luck so I thought if I got to eyeball the underneath of the machine and perhaps shout or stare intently at it that something magic might happen. Oddly having just removed the left panel I’ve noticed an unholy amount of brown gunge in the top left hand corner of the matrix. Could this be the culprit and if so do you thing that it’s fixable by a mere man and his torx screwdriver?February 1, 2007 at 3:18 pm #202921Martin

Nope!
Please try my suggestion by removing the flap valve, blow back up the drain pipe, if its a blockage the gunge will end up in the sump…sorted!

Well I tried the flap again and it didn’t work, but we were away for the weekend so I left it. Came back this morning and thought I’d give it one last shot, as per your instructions and flip me if it hasn’t worked. It’s just finished a second cycle without a hitch. I don’t understand how it didn’t work last week but hey thank you both so much for your help in this, you’re very kind and I really appreciate your patience.
