    Hello all,

I have an approx 10yr old Bosch SGI3012GB/07 (FD 7706) dishwasher that has gone on the blink. I have tried several things that have been suggested in this forum, but no luck.

We’ve just moved house and it was here when we arrived a couple of months back. It’s been playing up since then. Sometimes it would just stop part way through a programme, other times it would get ‘stuck’ at one point in the cycle and just keep thrashing away for as long as you care to leave it. Either way, turning the dial a notch would get it past the sticking point and it would continue to the end of its cycle.

A week back, the control dial completely stopped moving through the cycle at all. It would do each of the parts of the cycle, but had to be manually turned to the next step.

I bought a new control unit from the Bosch website (Part no. 267609) and installed that. It didn’t make much difference.

Now, when I set the control dial to ‘Start’, the water is let in in fits and starts. It sounds like a valve is clicking in and out rapidly and only letting in water for a fraction of the time needed to fill properly. The clicking sound seems like it is coming from the Aquastop – but perhaps there is a valve inside the machine that controls the fill? The control dial does not advance properly past the fill stage. But on one occasion it did fill properly and it seemed to run through most of the cycle normally, until it stopped near the end of the cycle for no apparent reason.

I unscrewed the Aquastop from the mains inlet and had a look – it wasn’t blocked by anything. I’ve had a look where the inlet hose goes into the back of the machine, but nothing seems wrong. The inlet hose goes into a panel on the back, so I took that off and looked inside. No water sloshing about. I tipped the machine backwards, but no water came out.

I’d be grateful if there are any ideas for what to try next. I’m stumped! I suspect the flood prevention device, but I have no idea what to look at next.

    Thanks for any advice.

    hello
it is possible that the inlet valve is sticking like you say its also worth checking the wiring loom inside the door at the bottom they sometimes break at that age.
    thanks tony
make sure the machine is isolated from the power supply!!!!

Thanks for the suggestion Tony. I had a look at the wires and they seemed OK.

Machine now seems fixed. I figured that there was no mechainical problem with any components, just that some switch somewhere was preventing the Aquastop from allowing water in to fill the machine.

I took the sides off to get access to the water-level regulator. It looked gunged up so I cleaned it. Put it all back together and sure enough the machine came to life when I switched it on. I suppose it thought it was full of water, even when it was empy, and kept the valve shut.

    Cheers,

Re: Bosch dishwasher – is it dead?

    Hi
When you read the forums about this fault, you would have seen a mention of the clear hose that goes from the sump to the water level unit that you mention. If that unit that you have cleaned gets too gunged in inaccessible places than a replacement is the only way. The hose in question can be removed and cleaned then replaced.
To prevent such a build up again a quick rinse under the tap of the dishes etc before loading will be of benefit 😀
