Hi – hope you can help. I have looked through many posts here and made some real progress but still haven’t sorted the problem which is this…

The drain pump won’t switch on unless there is a large amount of water in the tray.

When it is running it seems to be running well – but stopps well before it should. I have reseated the non-return valve and check that there are no blockages.

The dishwasher won’t run – presumably because with the tray full the aquastop cuts in.

    Any ideas please???

I guess you refer to a SGV5613GB/12? In which case if you ‘Search’ on any thread regarding Bosch dishwashers not draining, the subject is well covered. To sum up, it’s either a blockage (from pump to drain) or the pump is duff?

If you wish an engineer to sort it, click on the link below. 😉

    Yes – SGV5613GB.

I read the posts here extensively and tried everything I could see. The pump works great when it is on – and everything seems to be clear. The problem is that the pump doesn’t switch on unless you fill then tray with water – then it switches off before the tray is empty (i.e. leaving an inch of water above the filters).

I presume there is some kind of sensor that tests the water level and switches the pump on and off – am I right???

    Thanks

The pump switching off before the tray is empty could be a blockage in the drain hose/waste connector . Can you hear the pump running audibly ? If you reset the appliance ( pushing the two buttons simaltaneously as indicated on the control panel ) the pump should run . If you can’t hear the pump then its prob the pump thats blocked. If you can hear the pump running but no water is draining then you should concentrate on the drain hose and waste . I usually disconnect the drain hose from the waste under the sink , put the hose end in a bucket and then pump it out – No water coming out suggests a blocked drain hose

Thanks for the advice, the pump is cleared out running fine now – I think the problem with not fully emptying was simpy that I was not waiting for the end of the cycle or resetting.

The reason that I didn’t notice that I wasn’t at the end of the programme was because of another problem…

There is no water getting to the spray arms. Is there a seperate pump to service these or does the drain pump do both jobs with some kind of valve to switch between waste and spray?

This is a fully integrated dishwasher.

    Any suggestions welcome….

are you sure theres enough water going into the dishwasher to begin with ? The water is circulated via a wash motor . Can you hear this motor fire up after the appliance has filled ?

    Hi Paul

Thanks for the advice. I hadn’t notice the sound of the motor before, but I just tried it and the motor can be heard cutting in for half second then out for half a second – over and over – as though its trying to start up.

Eventually it just sat humming. No water came out of the sprays.

The motor has been quite noisy for a few months.

    Thanks again.

sounds like the ciculation pump (motor) is faulty they usually start leaking which causes the motor bearings to go noisy then eventually seize up

Yes – I was afraid of that. The machine is five years old so with the parts being over £100 I’m inclined to simply get a new machine.

yeah – £520 actually for the equivalent model. Any idea how difficult it is to change the motor (for a fairly handy and experienced amateur)?

Any idea which seals I need in addition to the motor?

    Thanks

you can buy the circulation pump complete no seals needed its a fairly tricky job but not impossible if you take your time quote the enr number to bosch if your cheeky and tell them your trade you should get another 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off 😀 i would take the old motor off first to make sure it is goosed though.
