    Hi,

We are considering installing a gaggenau downdraft system for the island hob in our new kitchen as a hood be too big. We are considering the system that goes with the Vario400 hob and is flush with the work surface. My question is does anyone have experience of this type of ventilation and does it actually work? or is it money down the drain? And also how noisy is it? the catalogue does not specify a noise rating. thanks for any info

    Re: gaggenau downdraft system

The noise level is largely down to the installation. Is the fan unit to be mounted in or outside of the house?
The vent hose run has a major effect on noise and performance.
The shorter and straighter hose the better.
Maybe you could hear one at a dealers first?

If installed correctly these appliances are excellent and give very few problems.

I tend to find the downdraft works much betters than the VL 051 swing out type.
