I have an identical problem to the one described here:

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ght=bso801

I removed the door this morning and tried to separate the two parts of the
door, but with no luck. What is holding the inner door to the outer door and what will be required to get the two apart?

    Thanks and regards,
    Dave

Usually a couple of screws on the bottom edge of the door. The glass can be slipped out from under the edge of the handle to access inner panel.

OK, thanks. I’ll see if I can give that a try tonight. I did manage to find the screws before, but when I unscrewed them, I couldn’t figure out what they unfixed!

Re: Separating Whirlpool BSO801 inner glass

After my initial attempt to remove the door following your advice failed, and then some procrastination (I don’t like DIY…) I tried again and discovered that there were three screws holding the handle to the inner door. Once I removed those I got the inner and outer door apart. I’ve got some glue and now I just have to attempt the scary thing of sticking the inner door back together. I have two questions however:

    1. How long does the glue need to be left before it is ready for use?
    2. Does the outer glass need to be sealed as well? There seems to be some sort of spongy material attached to it, but I don’t know if that’s padding to stop the inner door metal rim from scratching the glass. It doesn’t seem to peel off like the inner door seal did…

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

24 hours, preferably with the two panels weighted together (Encyclopedia Brittanica is excellent!) should do it. Do get the surfaces spotlessly clean first.

Don’t recall ever resealing an outer glass, so leave well alone.
