ParticipantI have been looking at your advice on changing the element for the u1721 cooker. (the half round one with the neff naff hidden screw)It was a pig getting the fan off, but I have done it, what I am unsure of now is the wiring to the element, it is concealed behind a slot with some sort of cover, I cant access the wires, which seem to be on one side of the element only. I am trying to do this in situe without removing the oven, any advice please, and also when refitting the element is it ok to leave the hidden screw out or will i get vibration/noise
cheers

Hi Bob
Have done all in situ, its just care not to pull spades off the terminals.
I would replace the top screw as this shouldn’t be a problem if you have the fan off now.Obviously if you have got this far you have isolated the oven mains feed if not please do so.

Thankx,
have twiddled it and can now seen the terminals, so will be able to get them off, have switched oven off but tend to turn all electric of in house anyway.Would it affect anything if I put a nick in the fan to get at that screw should the element go again?

It will probably cause an un-balance causing noise and wear on the fan motor bearing, so not a good idea and not one Ive needed to do. 😉

Having gone through the pantomime of removing the fan and replacing the burnt out element I now have no voltage at the spade terminals, is there an internal fuse that anyone is aware of. The light in the oven is on and the fan turns but no heat still, due to no voltage!!

You could check thermostat and temp limiters feeding that element.
Power off before attempting and please no more LIVE testing 😉
