The drum bearings have gone in my elderly machine of some 7 years. Is it worth repairing myself, the kit is about £25, never done this before! Or should I just wait for it to die and get a new one.

I persume it is WM series washing machine. Changing bearings on these are relativly easier than new models but if you have not done it before I would suggest to have it done from a professional engineer.

Simply because even if you was to put it somehow then you have to make sure it does not leak afterwards even a little. The seals are properly placed, the spider is not damaged etc etc

Sometimes the old bearings get stuck so getting them out is not easy.

Engineers charge around £80 inc parts and labour(depending on the area) so is it worth th hassle?
Please switch te appliance off beofre investigating.

    Regards
