Our Zanussi WD1012 does all programs well with one exception – hot whites washes.
When selecting the hot program (C), water does not seem to enter bottom of drum and seems not to heat – as the drum door does not get warm as it did when this program used to work. The machine makes the familiar noise of slow fill and heating of water when the program starts but does not advance the timer dial any further on the hot program (C).I have put WD40 on the timer spindle/axle and this has made the timer move much more easily.
I have tested the heater element and it gives a resistance reading of around 21 Ohms.
Is the 21 Ohms reading normal or is the fault perhaps with the thermostat controlling the hot program advancement?
Any advice much appreciated !!

Is there a hot water supply to the machines hot valve? Power off if you are going to have a look inside.

Power is OFF and unplugged at wall !!
The machine has not had a hot water feed for years as the (previous) repairman could not get hold of a hot feed solenoid !! So it has only a cold feed and worked fine like that – till now.
With this info, what is next on my checklist?

Prog “C” on the WD1012 is HOT WATER ONLY FILL, therefore you will need a working hot inlet valve to allow water (whether the feed is hot or cold it doesn’t matter…as long as there is water).
Fast coloureds (60) will be a mixture, the rest of the cottons prog are cold(valve) only.Re: Zanussi WD1012 Washer Dryer does all except hot whites w
Yes is hot fill only as Kentish says. Fill valves can be got. Try one of our Repairs@ engineers.

Well thanks to all you respondents in my search for an answer.
The reason was a blocked isolation valve for the hot water feed. We live in a hard water area and so this sort of thing crops up.
Replaced isolation valve so now there is real pressure in the hot feed and we can again wash on the hot whites cycle !
