ParticipantIf you don’t want a tracking device in your vehicle (knows where you are, checks your speed and above all costs you money then sign the petition)

RobPity Rob, there are now over a million signatures on this petition, Blair has said he will ignore the petition but quite a number of the Labour MP’s have become quite concerned.
Unfortunately this government seems to rely on the apathy of people to strip more of our civil liberties away year by year, and at the same time take more money from us for Brown to hose away.

Graham Dixon and I came up with a suitable story, which is now on the front page.
Can we please limit the discussion to this one thread if you don’t mind: 😉

And, I can tell you that there are strong indications that the Germans are going to ditch the GATSO’s as they reckon that they are too unreliable. 😉

Well it looks like we’re to get a personal email from Blair (yeah right) explaining why we should pay more tax and how data collected will not be used to give us speeding tickets and track our whereabouts. (despite the fact that this information WILL be collected)
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/a … 381521.ece
I suspect that only a small proportion will bother to reply to it because they don’t believe it will have any effect or they disbelieve Blair anyway, and of course the government will then say that once they had explained the policy correctly the number of objections dropped dramatically 👿
I don’t think we as engineers fully appreciate the monetary cost this could be to us…instead of an annual tax disc we could be paying 3, 4 or five times the amount on a road pricing scheme by virtue of the mileage we have to drive in the course of earning an honest living 😯

Don’t wanna appear apathetic but this could get very political so I shall refrain from commenting in case I upset anybody or shoot myself in the foot re assistance from anyone who has different political leanings.
Of course, no one may care two figs what I think! 🙂

In today’s Daily Mail….
Richard Littlejohn wrote:Transport Secretary Douglas Alexander dismisses the objections of the 1.4 million who have so far signed the online petition because he claims the round robin email which drummed up support for it contained misleading information. That’s a bit rich, coming from a member of the Government which took us to war on the basis of a sexed-up, dodgy dossier downloaded from the Internet!

All done to sway and unite mainly the US public into basically invading any country if needed and of course UK like sheep have to follow.
