My hygena cooker hood has stopped working! The on/off switch doesn’t push in correctly – maybe greased up. It’s really difficult to get at the switch assembly – only about 1cm clearance above the cross head screws holding it in place. Really need some advice:
What sort of tool can I get to remove the screws?
Any idea how much a new pcb switch assembly would be?
Would it need to be soldered when a new one is installed?
    Help much appreciated!

The replacement switch assy is part number W0000059 and is available from spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk at a cost of £27.04 inclusive of delivery.

You will need a soldering iron to connect the new switch unit to the wiring harness.

The switch should be on a cradle which is screwed in horizontally: two screws, one in each corner iirc. You need to be a bit of a contortionist to get your head underneath the hood facing back into the kitchen. Once the cradle comes out it detaches easily from the switch unit – it’s held on with another couple of screws.

Power off if going in and you’ll need to fully unplug the unit (not just switch it off) if you’re going to solder it.

If you would rahter leave it to a pro then click the link for repairs@ at the bottom of this post to find an engineer in your area.
