strong smell of plastic overheating after dryer has been on for about 40 mins…

the washer side runs ok…
and dryer does work, its just the smell it gives off.??

the dryer has a plastic fan, the fan is located on the shaft by tightening a left hand thred brass nut which clamps it onto the shaft.
there is no shoulder to fit the fan against so if it is too near the fan motor it will rub on the top of the cowling. if it is too far from the fan motor it will rub on the bottom of the cowling.
