    Hi all,

    I’ve got a poorly LG WM-1280FHD.

Basically, it fits and starts when trying to rotate and makes a sort of metallic ‘hissing’ sound from the motor.

There is no adverse sound when rotating the drum manually and it seems perfectly smooth.

After about 6-7 minutes it gives up and displays the fault code ‘LE’.

Can anyone give me a couple of pointers as to what to check ?

I initially thought bearings but like I say it’s smooth when rotated manually and it’s had a very easy life since I bought it four years ago (1 or 2 loads per week max).

I’m now thinking perhaps motor or PCB but is there any way I can check ?

    Thanks in advance…..

LE means overload on motor according to my instruction book… don’t know how it helps you though, mine is 3 ys old and has done 10 loads a week in that time and still same brushes (assuming it uses brushes).

    Hi There
This machine has a direct drive system. Any model number that ends in d means direct drive and the ones that end with b means belt driven. Sounds as tho the direct drive motor at fault if it sounds noisy on a rotation thats if you are getting rotation. Would advise a pro as they are a bit fiddly.
