    Hi All,

Anyone any idea what might be causing a problem with this dispenser not taking soap or conditioner.
I know it could be clogged (brother has tried to clean what’s accessible but no joy) or even the conveyor but I’ve not worked on these so unsure.

I’m not local to Mum so will need to make a trip, just wanted a tip or two before I go.

    Dispenser £51 approx!!

    Sorry to ask.

    Cheers.

Well it could be a water pressure/blocked filter problem? The bowden cable mechanism or spring return broken or in need of adjustment? Or the whole inlet nozzle clogged with limescale? Or last resort = new dispenser assy?

    Hi Martin,

Brother checked for pressure and blockages – all appeared ok.
Bowden cable or spring return? I know what a bowden cable is but Part of the conveyor mechanism I presume, not familiar with these during my time with Hoover/Appliance Care/National Home Care.

    Any exploded diagrams available on’t’net?

I have previously cleared dispensers with proprietry descaler but not tried one of these.

Or obviously, I could pay £51 for a new dispenser!

    Cheers

The bowden cable goes from the cam in front of the timer to an nozzle on top of the dispenser that puts the water in to the appropriate compartment, if the spring on top of the drawer has come off it is possible that the nozzle is pointing the wrong way and this would cause your problem.

I would suspect though that the problem is with the water pressure going into the drawer, if the spring was off it would either put all the water in the conditioner or soap compartments and you said it would take neither. Take the drawer out and see if the water is trickling down the back wall of the dispenser, if it is then you have a water pressure problem.

    Hi All,

She does live in a flat however it worked initially and as I mentioned earlier brother tested water pressure (in to bucket).
He thought it seemed fine (general builder).

I’ll go along and give it a going over.

    Cheers.

    Hi there,

    Just an update.

    Machine okay now.

After checking water pressure and conveyor assy I concluded that problem lay with dispenser. Taped a bent up paper clip to a pencil and combined that with a tooth brush to clean all the holes.

    Now works fine.

    Phew!

    Cheers.
