ParticipantI’ve replaced the stator and Hall Effect sensor in my FP 708. The machine washes and pumps out fine. It then starts to spin but stops with the spin light on and the machine beeping. It returns an error code of 157 (110101). I shorted out the connections to the lid switch ages ago, so I eliminated this. At this point I assumed it would be the OOB switch. However, the switch checks out OK with an ohmmeter and if the OOB switch harness is shorted together the machine still refuses to spin.
To make the issue more confusing sometimes it works perfectly.
Any ideas please?March 9, 2007 at 12:42 am #207008Penguin45

Off the top of my head, no idea. However, 157 isn’t a valid code, and you’ve only given me 6 digits instead of 8, so I can’t work it out from there.
No spin problems can be caused by not draining properly, Out of Balance switch problems if the drum is clipping the lever too easily (bias spring off), host of things really.
Give me a bit more to go on, please.

Thanks for your reply.
I’ve checked the bias spring. It is attached and appears OK.
I can get the machine to spin out (sometimes) by disconnecting the power, reinserting the connections on the motor control board and reconnecting the power.
I have checked the lid switch and OOB switch with an ohmmeter. Despite both checking out OK, I’ve shorted both to be doubly sure.
When the machine fails or to be precise it starts to spin then slows and stops and tries again. On the second time it stops with the spin LED on and beeps continuously.
The error code (made by pushing down wash temp then power) is 00101011 (43?).
To me the machine seems to think it still has water in it (though empty) or an obstruction and shuts down to protect the motor.
Since it washes and rinses ok I assume there’s no obstruction. Is there a way of checking the water level sensor? Thanks again for any help.March 9, 2007 at 8:15 pm #207010Penguin45

43 is the OOB switch. The switch itself suffers from water damage and corrosion to the wiring loom. You could try bridging it out as a test measure and seeing what happens……..
Unlikely to be water level sensor/pressure system, as the water levels would be wrong for wash and rinse.

Thanks for the info.
I’ve bridged the OOB switch- still no joy. Cut off the connectors to the switch and soldered the ends together- machine still mostly will not spin.
However I resoldered the PCB connector on the motor control board- now the machine mostly WILL spin.
I still don’t understand why this problem never occurred until I replaced the stator and position sensor.
Thanks again. -
