ParticipantI have a Creda tcr2 condensor tumble dryer, 2 years old last week.Never had any problems with it then on sunday mid way through a cycle with around 20 minutes to go it just stopped turning over.
There was a humming noise and a hot smell which I presume was the elements heating up with no air to spead the heat around the drum.
Had a look at it the belt is intact, filter clean, regularly cleaned and done just that morning. No obvious signs of anything shorted out.
Any ideas/help much appreciated.
I have repaired a few washing machines before and repair and build computers, never done a tumble dryer before though.
thanks

Possible motor capacitor fault, or even motor itself.

Thanks for the quick reply,I thought that might be the case ,just hoping that
it was something cheap and simple.

Capacitor very cheap, motor not over expensive either, more likely to be capacitor, 7uF rating.

Thanks again for your help, I thought knowing my luck it would be the motor and it would be expensive.
Will try the capacitor first and if not then the motor . hoping for the best.

:zap: caution remember that the capacitor can hold a charge even after the dryer is un-plugged it will give you a nasty shock so make sure you discharge it before you touch it!!!

Sound advice, however in this particular case, by the time you have gained access to the capacitor on this machine the charge will have completely dissipated.
