    Hi,

We woke up this morning to find no power in the house. Checked the fuse box to find a trip switch had gone. The only appliance that wouldn’t switch back on was the washing machine which looked like it was in the dryer cycle when the power stopped.

I replaced the fuse in the plug and switched it back on – the machine started and immediately fused again, tripping the fusebox again.

After work I thought I’d check that it wasn’t the socket and so plugged it into a different socket (after changing the fuse again). The machine then worked! I have now noticed that there is no heat in the dryer though.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

I should check the heater element hasnt gone down to earth, you can do this with a standard multi meter set on continuity and check that you havent ot a closed curcuit from a leg down to earth, make sure power is off and plug removed!
