ParticipantHi. I have a F&P 703 that will not spin at the high speed in the Regular or Heavy duty cycles. The fastest spin speed is the medium speed setting. No fault codes are displayed in the diagnostics. All components seem to check out OK & motor controller replaced, but fault remains.

Out of balance activating? Check tub bias spring is attached. Dodgy lid switch/wiring can do this. Slow drain can act as a brake.

Crickey. I’ve just had the same problem with our 703. Is there no diagnostic code to indicate that in fact it is nor spinning at max? I was first alerted to this by the sound pitch.
How can I access the technical and reapair manuals for the 703?March 22, 2007 at 1:31 am #208045Penguin45

You can’t………. F+P don’t seem to mind us answering peoples questions, but they’ll throw a bit of a wobbly if we publish their tech info – copyright issues and all that.
Honestly, if it won’t hit full speed, it’ll be some sort of load balancing problem – try it on spin empty, I’ll bet it ramps right up.
Bigsmokepiker may be able to add a bit more when he pops in………

No Sir Mr Penguin. On empty, and it appears to be sitting with the bowl slightly forward and centred, it does not have that take off sound pitch I used to hear in the past.

Actually I am not so sure I can trust my ear on this one, it looks like Mr Penguin is right 😆 . I just ran a small load, set the spin to min and as it ran modified the spin speen upwards and it seemed to go OK. Is there no way to determine if it is in fact spinning as it should?

Hi. Thanks for the tips (have been away, so it’s taken me a while to get back)to it. Just borrowed a spare motor module and a spare display module & tested again – same result. I can cycle the spin speed through the various speeds, but ‘medium’ speed is as fast as it will go (irrespective of the wash program selected). The machine has been run completely empty, has been levelled correctly & the agitator & bowl turn easily by hand. I checked for fault codes again & this time it appears to come up with code ‘132’. Any ideas?

I decided to fiddle a little and discovered that the out of balance switch is no longer seated correctly. the two pins that run through the body of that switch are broken at their base where they connect to the base on which the switch is seated. i have not yet decided how it might be best to permanently fix that [all suggestions welcome] but after having made a temp fix it seems to be running perfectly.
Would it be advisable to spray the circuit boards and switches with Inox [http://www.inox-mx3.com]March 26, 2007 at 8:32 am #208050Penguin45

P/no 502220 is the base and lever, you can move the switch across. Spraying circuit boards with anything is not good practice – shouldn’t be neccessary, although cleaning edge connectors and terminals with a very light abrasive will clear any oxidisation.

Update folks. Out of sheer desperation, I changed the pump and the machine will now go to full spin speed!!! The pump checked out OK with a multimeter (33.2 ohms) and is an open circuit to the frame (no shorts), but it obviously wasn’t right somehow. Only problem that remains is that when I go into the diagnostic mode, I don’t get the two short beeps & fault code 132 remains displayed. But I’m slowly getting there I think (if only I knew what code 132 means). Cheers

Hi quick update. I just tried the machine again (after I thought I fixed the spin problem), but the fault is back again. I have run the machine empty on the ‘Heavy Duty’ selection and the ‘Fast’ spin LED is illuminated, but the machine will only go to medium speed (I can select the medium speed while it is spinning & there is no change in RPM). If I select the speed up to illuminate the ‘Fast’ LED again, still no increase in spin speed. I have also noted that when I go into the diagnostic mode, I don’t get the two beeps. I’m tearing my hair out with this one.
