    My Indesit WDG1295WG has been having problems. It came with my flat so I don’t know how old it is. Can its date of manufacture be found from the serial number?

    First 5 digits of serial number will give you date of manufacture –
    i.e 70223 = 23/02/97

    OK thanks for the info, it is 8.5 years old from this logic. Sadly the motor has completely died and a new one seemed to be £150. I have bought a new Bosch 1400 spin machine for £280. Doesn’t have a dryer, but that never worked properly anyway.
