ParticipantHi,
Can anyone help please?
I have a Hotpoint washer/Dryer its an Aquarius extra WD63 model.
The pump on it is blocked, it wont drain and is making a noise.
As my guarantee ran out in January i decided to try and fix it myself but got stuck when i reached the pump, there is a big plastic white band attached to the pump and i dont know how to get it off/open it.
How do i do it?
ThankyouMarch 27, 2007 at 3:52 pm #209022Martin

Just ease it off with a pair of pliers. Grab hold of the top half of the toothed edge and wiggle them to the left. The teeth then disengage and you can slip it off! 😉

Thankyou, so it does definately come off then? i was scared to touch it in case i broke or snapped it.
There are 2 white plastic bits, one at the waste pipe end and one at the other end, which end should i take off?

Please call an Engineer. I think it will be a safer route if you are that unsure.

Thanks Tim but i really cant afford to call an engineer out at the minute but with 3 mud loving sons i really need my washer back on.
Its definately the pump because its happened 3 or 4 times before but i was still under warranty then.March 29, 2007 at 4:25 pm #209026Loulou28

Just wanted to say thankyou to the 2 people that replied to me.
My washer is now fixed and busy washing as i type.
It was the pump, it was blocked and had actually broken so i bought a whole new one for £15 and successfully changed it myself 😆 😯Thanks again

I think a Big Well Done to you for tackling it! 🙂 & Congrats that it is now working. I know from experience what it is like having to survive on a low income (my hubby has kidney failure) & we rely very much on our washer. If it was to break down tommorow (I am touching wood here….my head that is) we would be stuck & I would be clueless in such matters.
