    Hello everyone.

I wonder if someone can help me with this one.

I’ve had a WD12-UK for a few years now and have had faultless service from it. About 4 months ago though it started to trip the RCD every time it began the drying cycle. I thought maybe the heater has shorted so I replaced it. It did look like it had over-heated as the coils were deformed. As I’ve been out of work for the last 3 months with a broken ankle I haven’t been able to investigate further. I’ve just disconnected the heater and taped up the connectors.

It goes through the drying cycle now without the heater connected but obviously only blows cold air.

I’ve read stuff on this forum regarding the motor getting tired. I’m assuming that this then draws that little bit more current and causes the power to trip out?

    Any ideas?

P.s. I’m not very familiar with white good but am mechanically and electrically competent.

Check the safety fuse in the fibre sleeve leading to the heater. Seen lots of this chaffing through over the years.

    Power off, obviously…….

    Thanks Penguin45.

    I’ll get on it tonight.
