ParticipantI have noticed a few descalers available on the market, this one is marketed by Indesit. Does anyone know how effective these descalers are? Do they clear mould/bacteria from washing machines for example?

hi, yes this is pretty good stuff & a good seller too, if you find a sludged up machine i usually recommend 2 sachets in 2 weeks then monthly, clears the drum well

A big box of soap powder is a hell of a lot cheaper and probably just as effective. 😉

Didn’t help in this case: –

I fitted an armature to this machine last November and at the time gave her the speil on using Ariel , service washes and such. On cross-examination the lady confessed to only ever using one programe (40deg synthetics 😯 ) for all her household washing?
Since November she has realised the error of her ways and noticed a huge improvement to her laundry, and her machine no longer smells. But she recently borrowed a packet of descaler from her daughter and a few days later the drum spigot finally gave up!
I did reassure her later that the descaler really wasn’t to blame. 😉
