The drum on the machine is no longer perfectly centred, so there is a definite wobble as the drum rotates. The bearing (I assume) also makes a nasty qroan/squeak for about 30 degrees of travel, and the drum stiffens considerably at that point.
Does this sound like a real pain to fix (ie. get a new machine) or does it sound like a familiar and easy to solve problem to anyone?
Advice and expertise would be lovely 🙂 as the machine is going to be an absolute pig to get out of our tight little kitchen…

Is the machine under 5 years old? If so it may be covered by manufacturers five year parts warranty. You should only have to pay the labour as it does sound expensive.

sounds like the drum spider will be broken. the shaft is attached to the drum with a 3 or 4 legged spider i cant remember which, one of the legs will be broken i have seen a few like that.
the easy way to check is to try and push down on the front of the drum exactly in line with the drum paddle, the repeat process for every paddle, if the deflection is greater at one of the paddles then it means that one of the legs of the spider are broken.
best to get hoover if under 5 years old.

It is really a Candy under the skin, if it is over five years old then it may be time to invest in something of better quality.

Any recommendations? (Chose Hoover because my parents’ one lasted ages, just occasionally replacing brushes).
You can probably tell our price range from the model we are talking about, and we only do 2 or 3 washes a week…

i would only ever buy hoover any model will do, the cheapest works just as well as the dearest.
all come with a 5 year parts guarantee.
machines are reasonably priced, reliable, easy to get parts for, parts reasonably priced.i am sure others will recommend other weird and wonderfull makes i will stand by hoover manufactured in wales.
we have been hoover agents for over 50 years they dont pay me any money but i still recommend them.
new machines take a 6kg, 7kg and 8kg loads the 6kg would be fine go for a spin speed aboout 1200 to 1400rpm.

Manufactured in Italy, assembled in Wales, is more likely! 😕

my dad always told me if you havent got anything positive to say dont say anything.
