Bosch soap door not opening

    The little door holding the detergent in our Bosch Silver Edition (model SGS5358GB/17) is sometimes not opening during the wash – I’ve cleaned it out – it closes OK but this morning again it hadn’t opened although some of the detergent had escaped round the edges. Any ideas?

    Is the perimeter seal intact?
    It may be perished allowing water in, making the tablet/powder into a soggy paste causing a suction like action on the flap 😕

    I’ll look – what is is the mechanism that opens the door? The door shuts and latches OK and springs open with the manual catch.

    The mechanism that opens the flap and injects the rinse aid is built into the dispenser itself. The mechanism itself is driven by an actuater valve which can fail but is generally very reliable.

    Again it’s left the tablet in a soggy mass and not opened the door. I can’t see a seal – is this under the flap?

    Is the best thing to do just put in a new dispenser unit and is this DIY?

    I’ve just run it again with no soap tablet and the door opened…

    look in the bottom of the machine and you will probably find the seal for the dispenser in the filter

    Can’t see anything – but wife may well have binned it. Can you describe this bit and exactly where it fits?
