ParticipantHello, my dishwasher has a problem. A week or two ago it stopped mid cycle, the dishes were not cleaned and some dirty water remained inside. Unfortunately I did not take a note of the error code. It would not start after this. With any program selected when the the start button was pressed the washer would make a short “pumping” sound and then stop after about half a second.
I siphoned off all the water inside and cleaned out using hot water + hose to hopefully make sure any food blockage was removed in case this was the problem. This made no difference, still the machine would not start up correctly, and make short starting up noise then stop immediately.
I left washer off for a few days, and tested again and it did start up again, on the number 1 prewash program and went for 10 mins or so then stopped again. I heard a strange clicking noise just before it stopped this time.
Current situation is that there are no error lights showing but I cannot get washer to start up into any program, any ideas? Would a reset help?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide

“Strange clicking noise” – foreign object in drain pump? Pre-wash runs for about 10 minutes before drain, so may be about right…. Fault would be time-out for water level drop detection – the machine can’t tell whether the pump is running or not.
Power off if you’re going to pull the pump apart.

thanks for that. 🙂 My wife thinks the problems started after the filter unit was removed and cleaned, so perhaps there is something in there. Is it easy to loacte the drain pump on this model? thanks

Awkward rather than difficult. Tip it back and drop the undertray to see – you may need to remove the door outer and front lower panel for enough access to remove it.
Power off, please.

Hello again, I never got this issue resolved, and have been washing dishes the old fashioned way for too long now!
I rang Smeg today, and they will charge me £89 just to look at it, with parts and vat additional 😯 .
I’m reluctant to pay this. The current situation with the dishwasher is when you press in the start button on any cyle it beeps twice (as normal), then there is immediately a noisy buzz/grunt sound followed by quieter glug sound, and the machine stops. This is all the machine does.
I did call a local service engineer who thinks it might be something to do with the aquastop device which is on the end of the hose connected to the mains supply, and as he wasn’t sure he was reluctant for me to buy the part in case it was not the problem. He was going to come back and bypass it by cutting the hose, but he never returned and has probably forgotten.
Does anyone think this may be the aquastop device malfunctioning. I would be prepared to buy this if I knew for sure it would fix my problem.

Guys, I just found this on another listing on this forum http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ic&t=24434.
It is exactly same issue as I am seeing and would point to the faulty soap dispenser/electrical noise problem.
This forum is a great source of information. THanks. 😀

Hi,
I ordered spare part (dispenser) from UK Whitegoods which was delivered very promptly. I now have a working dishwasher again and saved myself a fortune!😀 😀
