ParticipantI have perused this forum and not seen any advice specific to this machine.
It is a slimline about 6 years old and does not drain after successfully performing cleaning cycles. Although it leaves the water looking quite dirty.
I removed all the parts accessible from within the front door and found nothing obvious. Replaced the parts and removed the side panels. Then checked the drain hose at the far end and noticed it was full of gunge. Cleaned it out and did a prerinse. The pump motor visible on the right hand side was rotating well. Seemed to work OK. But still full of water at the end of the cycle.
My next action will be to examine the bottom of the macihine, remove the drain hose at the machine end and blow throug into a bucket to check that it is clear of all debris and then check again.
How many pumps are there in this dishwasher? If there is a separate drain pump, is ther some way to activate it without going through a prerinse cycle?
Any suggestions and avice will be most welcome and lifesaving.
Thanks all,April 14, 2007 at 7:42 am #210672Martin

Would it be an SRS4312GB I wonder?
Tricky to get to the pump on that model if it is, but accessed only from the front you’ll find…. 😉

if you start any cycle then ‘reset’ the machine , this will cause the pump to run . ( resetting is normally by pressing two of the cycle buttons together and should be marked )
Can you hear the pump running ? If you can only hear a very faint hum , then the chances are that there is something jammed in the pump itself . If you can hear the pump running audibly , then the likelihood is a blocked pipe somewhere . However , there is always the possibility , that the appliance is ‘back-syphoning’ on itself from the drain hose/connection .
There are two motors . looking at the front of the machine , the big motor on the right is a ‘wash’ motor . The small white motor , on the bottom left is your drain pump .
Hope this helpsApril 14, 2007 at 8:50 am #210674JMich

Thanks a bundle Martin and NomadPaul. Yes it is a SRS4312GB/08 . I cannot understand why I fixated on SGS even though the book is right in front of me.
The only pump I know is working is the wash pump. Now that I know there is a drain pump and how to energise it, I will check it out. I will have to figure out how to get the front off. And, after Martin’s comment, I hope I do not have to replace it.
I’ll let you know how I get on.
Thanks again,

Well I:
1. removed the drain hose at the machine and flushed it through. some gunge but then it ran clear.
2. Removed the pump discharge pipe from near the drain hose connection (where the transparent pipes are on the LHS) I tried to blow, but solid (presume a non-return valve). Then I sucked a load of clear water into my mouth.
3. Switched on and did a reset. I could feel the pump humming and hear a faint hum, but no water travelling anywhere.
4. Have been trying for the last coup0le of hours to remove the drain pump, but cannot work out what is retaining it. I see there is a black rubber bellows between the pump and the plastic outlet pipe. Is this just a push on bellows onto the pump? In other words do I have to just pull the pump out of the bellows? I had to remove the fromt door cover to gain better access to the pump. Please advise how to remove the pump from the main body at the bottom.
Thanks and I’ll keep trying.
John.

The drain pump motor is a twist fit into the pump housing. There is, however a locking tab which need to be depressed as you turn the motor unit (anti-clockwise from memory).
Very awkward I’m afraid, good luck,

Hi Penguin45,
Many thanks. I eventually worked this out and nearly broke the pump trying to get the thhing to twost out. I managed to get the pump out and to my great good fortune, I found an elastic band stuck around the impellor. Removed that, assembled the lot and the pump worked fine. Now trying the first wash and looking good.
At least it did not cost me anything but the 6 hours I spent yesterday and today.
Thanks again to you Martin and Penguin45.
I can now enjoy the rest of the weekend.John
