Was chatting to another engineer today and he had a tool produced by draper that he used universally to remove washing m/c elements. Sort of hooks behind and you can lever it out……. Said it made it alot easy.

Anyone heard of this. Ive looked at the standard draper site but cant find anything!

They don’t make a tool for getting the element back in again afterwards do they 😆

A set of water pump pliers will do the same job, you merely open them up to the width required and reverse them, this then makes a nice point of leverage against the tub rear and the element boss.

On plastic tubs be careful a squirt of WD 40 helps no end. 😀

For years I have used a double ended right angle screwdriver which sits behind the plate and levers against the tub. It has the advantage of staying at a virtual right angle to the tub but also fits at the ends of the plate for extra leverage. Available at “good” tool shops but never seen one in a DIY shed.

I think the tool you’re talking about might be a “seal puller”, simon.
    Try Draper 37439.
