    Hi,
I have a Schreiber / Hygena APM6325 SX larder fridge, 2001 model. In common with another poster earlier on this forum it is running constantly with ice forming on back of fridge, however it is uniformly cold (too cold!), and electricity bill is through the roof! I think that it could be the thermostat that’s away. Is this likely? Anything I can do to check this out? I’m competent with a multi meter and have a fair understanding of the theory involved here, but little in the way of practical experience on fridges.

If it is the thermostat I’ll need to know where to purchase it (here seems as good a place as any 😀 ) part no etc. A description of where it’s located would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help / advice anyone can offer.

    Thermostat is here:

It’s a simple make-and-break device, so if you are competant with a test meter you should be able to work it out. Does the compressor stop if you turn the thermostat back towards zero? If it doesn’t it’ll be the thermostat.

    Power off, of course.

Thanks for that. Compressor only turns off a defrost setting (i.e. cuts all power and light goes out) so hopefully I’m about to cut my electricity bill. Would have been cheaper buying a new fridge than letting it run without thermostat for so long! We live and learn I suppose. Thanks again

    Richard 😳
