    Re: Dishwasher problems

Model/serial number would be a big help. 😉

PS. Opening the door mid cycle should not cause it to fail.

If it is tripping out then it needs to be checked out with a multimeter or meggar to determine the source of the problem.

    Re: Dishwasher problems

Opening and closing the door mid-cycle when the water is very hot can cause an increase in air pressure which can force water back through the system back out into the tray beneath the machine. It is likely that wash motor is sitting in water. Unplug the machine. Remove tray and mop up any water that you find beneath machine. Ensure everything is absolutely dry before attempting to plug machine in again.

That would very much depend on exactly which model of dishwasher is involved though.

    Re: Dishwasher problems

Unless you have a suction pump or syphoning device then scooping out and soaking it up with some large towels is the only way. If you do find that the base is flooded it may still be time for an engineer. A large number of Whirlpool dishwashers use a circulation pump that is prone to failure, I have fitted three this week alone.

So i have to take the base of the washer of then dry of the motor taking all the water away drying everything thoroughly out then replace it all

The thing that annoys me is that the washer should really have had a fused spur fitted but it does not

The machine will have a 13 amp fuse fitted, however the RCD reacts in a much faster time than a fuse (milliseconds). Don’t get annoyed the RCD is doing it’s job. Stopping you from being electricuted.

A ‘wet & dry’ vacuum cleaner (Vax, or Hoover Aquamaster)would be handy for removing the water from the base. Use the crevice tool.

Dishwasher power OFF and UNPLUG, before attempting such procedures!
