    Samsung SXS Fridge/freezer,

Brand new just installed and reported fault is not making ice.

Went out to this and pushed the test switch and no water comes into the ice tray. Did the diagnostic test and it said it was unable to level the ice tray although it looked level to me. I checked the connection at the top door hinge and it seems secure. Replaced ice tray and now the diagnostics find no fault but there is still no water coming through when you push the test switch. Left it for 24hrs to see if it would make any ice but no joy.

I`m now thinking that the connection at the top right is the problem although i have disconnected and reconnected it a few times.

I am going back on Thursday to refit the old ice tray and see if the diagnostics find the original fault but in the meantime before I pull all my hair out does anyone have any ideas and can anyone answer these questions?

When the tray is not level is the level switch open cct or short cct?
Has anyone had a heap of bother with the connection at the top hinge?
Is the ice full switch open cct or short cct when the bucket is full?
When you hold the test switch for 1.5secs should water run through immediately.

    and finally
How much neat petrol does it take to burn one of these things 😆 ?

    Thanks

    Hi Bazz

When the test button is pressed for approx 3 seconds the unit will turn clockwise and empty the ice then retun to the level and refill with water.

Check the pins in the top connector as i have found 2 that was bent over by the installers.

Have you replace the complete ice maker unit ?

    Hi Bryan,
Nothing at all happens when I push the test switch and all the pins in the plug are aligned. Yes I`ve replaced the whole icemaker.

I was thinking that the pins in the plug are not making a very good contact. What I`m thinking is that the icemaker I replaced was not faulty and that checking the plug at the same time as replacing it has cleared the fault showing up on the daignostics but now some other pins are not making proper contact.

I would have thought that if the main PCB was faulty it would show up a fault condition.

If I knew what condition the switches were supposed to be in to let water through then I could check this at the main PCB and again on the icemaker plug inside the freezer and this would rule out or in the contacts at the door hinge. I checked the test switch at the PCB and it was operating but this was before I replaced the icemaker. I need to check this again, but it would be good to be able to check the switches as well.

    Re: Ruddy Samsung!!!

    Went back to this today.
The first thing I did was a diagnostic test and the segment lit saying the ice tray was not level. Fitted the original ice tray back and the fault was still there. Removed the ice maker and check continuity from main PCB to icemaker plug inside freezer and all were okay. Refitted ice maker and tested continuity between pins on main PCB for ice maker connections and switches and all were okay. refiited plug on PCB and pushed ice test button…..Nothing. Did diagnostic test, it finds no faults.

Can anyone think of anything else that can cause this before I order a new main PCB?
