Just found the UK whitegoods website. Is this an end to my double oven
    hell
My 80yr old mother needs a new built in double oven – her 25+yr old
one just died completely & she needs a replacement.
Bear in mind she hates electricity and cooking .She is also frightened
by teccie stuff like complicated knobs and just wants plain and simple we bought her a microwave which she will not use at all.
    Her needs are quite simple..
Double oven – electric not gas – but preferably with no fan. Do any exist.. If no oven these days exists without a cooking fan she needs function to turn it off ! – or can it be disconnected from the oven wiring ?
Needs very simple dials – none of the fancy stuff with 101 options
Ideally the small oven with grill function – full & half grill for day to day light cooking & Main oven – just for cooking Sunday roast and occasional cake. 600mm wide to go in new cabinet from homebase.
The Candy FDP 231 was looking a good contender but the noise of the
fan was awful – are they all that noisy – really couldn’t stay in the kitchen while a roast was cooking it would drive you mad. The fan started up with both ovens and the grill function, is this normal ?.
Trying to send it back to retailer as convinced fan is wrong at that
noise level……have listened to a colleagues Belling oven and with door shut it’s very quiet – waiting for service engineer
Please Please Please Please help me………couldn’t find many
double oven reviews in the forums
    What are your thoughts ????????????????????

Re: BUILT IN DOUBLE OVEN HELL

Not sure if this helps but Samsung have started manufacturing inbuilt ovens in the UK-Theyre really nifty actually-have 2 fans and come with metal divider, so you can cook two things at the same time at diff temps

Re: BUILT IN DOUBLE OVEN HELL

    Hi

Options that I can think of would be either buy just a single oven with no fan which many manufacturers call a static oven. Another option would be to buy a double oven which has a multifunction main oven where you can choose either fan or conventional cooking. If you choose the latter on the appliance, you could set the control to conventional and either tape it over or tell her that the control isn`t needed. Unfortunately you cannot just disconnect the fan on a fan oven.
