ParticipantHi I am having trouble with my washing machine not taking in my conditioner into the wash, I know that there are certain cycles that don’t take it in so that is not the reason. I have taken the tray out many times to clean this so it is not that.
Please help!

Candy-sourced Hoover machines seem to suffer from this problem: it appears to be a design fault in the siphon.
Try this:
Remove the drawer completely, and hold it level over the sink.
Fill the fabric conditioner compartment with a trickle of tap water, up to its brim, then watch to see if the water siphons out of its own accord.
If it doesn’t, it means that there is a blockage in the vertical siphon pipe in the drawer itself; or poor clearance between the siphon pipe and the compartment cover / siphon cap.
If the water drains quite slowly, fabric softener is maybe too thick, and therefore requires a little dilution with water.
Place drawer back into machine, set the machine to ‘freshen up’/final rinse, if possible (some modern machines have to go through the complete rinse process!). Open the drawer a tiny bit and see if there is water going into that compartment. If not, there may be a problem with the soapbox water distribution system (engineer time).

Thoroughly clean the roof section of the soap box while the drawer is out. If any holes appear to be blocked you will need to prick them out to allow water through.

When I take the draw out it does always look a little moldy up the top inside. I do clean this once a week but can’t always get to it all. Water does spray into the conditioner tray but it does not get emptied, so I get the conditioner plus water in it and the end of the wash. I am going to get an engineer in on Monday. I have still got warrenty left on it as it came with a year. I am just reluctant to get them out as I got them out 3wks ago and they charged us £50 (as it was our fault they would not cover us). The wash would not drain and would stop half way through a cycle. He found money and hair clips in the outlet pipe and drum. a very expensive lesson learnt!

Also I get a terrible smell from my washing machine when I open the door. Usually worse in the morning. I can wash up to 3 times a day so it should be thoroughly washed through. I do not leave my clothes in the washing machine for any length of time.

An old toothbrush is the tool for the top of the dispenser and do a couple of service washes
