    the led second from the left (the ‘normal’ wash) is flashing quickly and the dishwasher needs to be ‘reset’ (by holding down the power and P buttons) before you can try another wash.

    The dishes are ‘fairly’ clean, there’s only the ‘ball’ bit of the dishwasher tab left to dissolve, and there’s no pool of water in the bottom of the dishwasher.

    any pointers gratefully received.

    I think you’ll find that’s an inlet valve failure.
