    Hi all,

I have a problem with my KDW12SSB dishwasher. It worked fine for about 13months, but started behaving strangely about a month ago. The problem is that occasionally it would not go more than a minute into the program before stalling, and buzzing. This problem would go away on restart. This fault grew in frequency untill a day ago, now it will not run a program at all. When I start a program, I can hear it pump out water first, then take water in, and just when you would expect it to start washing, it stalls, and you hear a constant buzz. Reading the forums this seems like a poor quality washer, but I would like to squeeze another year out it at least. any thoughts?

The circulation motor is failing to activate. It is either a solid block of rust which has seized solid due to the leaks (in which case it’s time to pony up and buy something decent), or perhaps the start/run capacitor has failed, which is an affordable repair. Also possible that the pump is jammed due to eating something which has disagreed with it. Not very common though.

The humming noise tells you that the circulation pump is getting power, it can’t react.

Power off if you are going to investigate…… Please.

    BACK IN ACTION,

Just to update you, I replaced the start / run capacitor and this appears to have solved the problem. Thanks for the help Penguin, now what to do with all these spare screws!
