    Hi There,

    The 7ry old zanussi has served us well, however couldn’t hack the 3 loads a day that comes with having 2 young children. So, it is off to the great washing machine heaven in the sky and in with a replacement.

    After scouring the forums, it sounds lie Miele is the make to handle the additional pounding that it will receive in the next 10 years, however this comes at a premium.

    I had a look on the ‘Which’ site who have a Miele 1512 (cheapest) washing machine as a top 10 best buy and it appears to come with a 5yr Manufacturers parts/labour warranty. Seems OK so far.

    In stores this is at £550 but after some web searching have found this model at Dixons on-line (name of the Devil 😈 ) are offering this for £465 with free delivery, much to my shame for looking there.

    This model only has a 5 kg drum compared to the other maily 6kg. Is this liekly to make a big difference to a family of 4 (including 2 boys)?

    Is it worth spending the near £500 for the name?

    I would appreciate your professional opinions on this

    Miele appliances in general are produced to a very high standard, the washing machines are no exception. The W1512 while it only has a 5kg load and it is the base machine in the range has no less when it comes to the build factor.

    All Miele washing machines come with an automatic 10 year guarantee against breakdown on drum, outer tub, axle and bearings. Door hinge is guaranteed for the lifetime of the machine. You would be responsible for the labour charge if any of the above occured after the five year guarantee. There is also a lifetime guarantee on the enamelled outer panels too. All this is in addition to the promotional guarantee currently offered. As far as the naming part goes Miele have been producing appliances since 1899 so I guess they know a thing or two 😉 .

    Is it worth the second mortgage? It Sure is.
