Hello avatars of the agitator, masters of the mangle, sages of the spincycle……etc.

I’m hoping you can help with some of your friendly and helpful advice.

My machine won’t fill, either with hot or cold, water pressure is ok & taps are on. I stuck a voltage meter on the cold water solenoid and measured voltage when powering the machine on, and pressing start but no voltage across solenoid terminals. The wires when disconnected do have about 24v DC across them. The front panel seems to respond and power up normally. Resistance measured across either solenoid with wires disconnected is 0 ohms.

Pressed “wash temp” down while pressing power and toggled spin buttons as suggested by STICKY on this forum.

    Left to right I get 10001100. (49?)

Is there anything else I could check? I don’t have a technical diagram and am not sure where the lid switch might be as that is one of the first things I’d normally verify.

    Cheers,
    Dirk

49 is a cold valve fault. If the valve is getting 24Vdc (correct), the solenoid is the likely culprit. Split the circuit and check for resistance of 15ohms.

Cold valve is p/no 426143 if required.

Lid switch sensor is under the top deck should you wish check its function.

    Regards,
    Penguin of the Paddle.

    Thanks Penguin, for your help.

I tried bypassing the cover switch and the machine began to fill, for half a second and turn a little at the same time. Then after a while it would do nothing. Was looking a lot like a control panel at least (about $220 to replace in Aust) with a call out of $110 if I want to go the safe route and get a pro.

I bought a factory seconds samsung front loader (cheap because of dings) to replace it for $550. Our council are offering a $200 rebate for purchase of a new water efficient machine so I figured it was worth it.

Will give the old machine to someone who repairs and re-sells them.

Strange new stuff: The samsung has an option for a “silver wash” (sold as an anti-bacterial treatment) using dodgy nano technology. I knew nothing about it beforehand but some cursory research tells me it’s potentially risky to health and the environment so I’ll be looking to disable it somehow. Maybe just disconnect the switch.

If you search the site for “silver nano” you’ll read all about it, it’s not so good and apparently Samsung have now dropped it.

They say because of poor sales, but read up on it and make your own mind up. 😉

    K.
