I was looking through a Miele brochure to day with a customer who wants to replace her 15 year old De Dietrich oven. While reading the spec on some models it listed for the timer a sabbath setting of 72 hrs at 85c 😕
What model? Modern Miele ovens have a pyrolytic cleaning process where it heats to near 500 C & locks the door during this automatic process which from memory only lasts 2 & 1/2 hours. I thought the max period of a cooking process was 12 hours but i may be wrong.
You can view any instruction booklets of Miele current appliances at http://www.miele.co.uk
When we installed a Bosch d/o a couple of weeks ago, it also had a sabbath setting. When reading the manual, it stated that it uses top and base element to keep the oven at a temperature of 85c for 72 hours.During that time you can keep meals warm without having to turn the oven off! :con:.
Merv
The Sabbath setting is for Jews who are not allowed to use or switch any appliance / switch or use other things on the Sabbath . So on the cooker it has to switch on the day befor the Sabbath.
Cheers Guys, I thought it must have been something to do with the Jewish faith but thought the sabbath was from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday so didn’t understand the 72 Hrs bit.
