Need some help with my hotpoint WMA66. After selecting a programme the machine fills then empties without any movement of the drum. Suspecting the motor, I took the brushes to a local spares shop but they reckoned the brushes were OK. The commutator ring looks OK. Any suggestions on where to look next or am I looking at replacing the motor? Visually everyting else looks OK inside. Thanks 😡

When it faults, which lights on the wash progress panel are lit?

When a wash programme is selected the sequence is as follows. Machine fills up, wash progress panel indicates length of wash (1h32). machine stops filling and then clicks, progress panel then displays 1h43. Machine clicks again and display goes to 1h42, another 2 clicks, 1h41 is displayed. The machine now pumps out all the water, then the display goes to ON with the door lock flashing. A few seconds later the flashing door lock goes out with ON still displayed. Thanks again.

This machine should still be under five years old and covered by the manufacturers warranty for parts, some very expensive bits on the control side of this machine, if you cannot see any breaks in the wiring harness were it runs past the lower front concrete balance weight or breaks near the motor plug then it may be time to make use of your parts guarantee.

The error codes on this machine can only be displayed after the machine is put through a test routine.

Finally got to the bottom of the problem, it was a broken wire which had worn against the lower balance weight. Well done Jiim you were spot on! Had to get somebody in though as I couldn’t find the break myself, anyway it was worth the £30. Thanks again for all your help. Martyn 😆
