    Servis Washer/Dryer
    Model No. M9713S
    S/N: 20030705507-014077056-01 01

When machine went into spin at the end of the wash cycle, It broke into this very unhealthy flailing sound – at which point I switched it off. I don’t think the tub was spinning all too much during this. Would this be bearings or something?

You would have to be looking inside to be getting a feel for what’s gone on as there’s several possibilities.

The drum support spider could have broken, which would make it sound like a bag of spanners and the drum will physically “flap about” if you move it by hand.

The other thing that is not uncommon on Servis machines is a little phenomena we call “backplate spin”. What happens is that the securing lug for the backplate shears at the top allowing the entire backplate to spin around tearing all the wiring loom and often blowing the module to bits in the process as well as damaging the drum and heater quite often. Not very healthy at all.

Remember to pull the power if you’re going to poke around in there, especially if the wiring has been damaged.

Yeah, and the pulleys that snap. 😕

They’re not really very good these Servis things… 😉

Oh and if you’re reading this you should also know that Servis appear to be trying to rebrand themselves as “Electra” now, playing on the brand used by all the old electricity boards.
