    Hello All

My extractor died last week with a bang when I tried to turn it on. I have played around with it, and found that the circuit board (Partmaster), has a bit of carbon on it.

I am not proficient with electricals, but I could test a live wire going into the circuit board, but nothing live going out (this probbaly sounds like complete garbage).

The part itself seems to retail for around £45 and a callout would take the cost to nearly £100. Too much when a new extractor costs £125.

Any suggestions on a way forward?

    Hi Amol,

The PCB should be reasonably easy to change. With most hoods it’s either the PCB/switch assembly that goes or the motor as there’s not much else in most of them to go wrong.

However, you can save a bit on the part by clicking here 😉

    Thanks for your reply.

I am unable to start the lights in the hood, so is it a safe bet to assume that the motor isnt dead and its likely to be the switch that has broken?

Are Electrolux parts known to go wrong often? Would it be a better idea to buy a better quality product instead?

Do your repair affiliates charge the same prices as those charged by you for spares?

    Hi Amol,

Yep, it’s a pretty safe bet that the switch assembly is the problem, probably the on/off one is goosed, possibly the PCB itself.

All hoods do this in my experience until you get up into decent Elica stuff (not the low price range) and Miele etc. the big advantage is the better performance on them though. However, they ain’t cheap.

The repairers on repairs@ set their own rates as they are all independent companies but they generally all do charge reasonable prices for the are that they are in. The good thing is you know you won’t get fleeced as they are all signed up to our code of practice.

    Hope that helps.

    K.
