ParticipantQuote from another thread (courtesy of Gegsy)…
‘…there will be a significant difference in heat strength between the old and new element due to age.’
Is that a generic comment on the heating ability of new elements on a like for like basis? Or does it refer to improvements in element manufacture & design?
Having just replaced an element I guess it useful to know if I can expect changed heating performance with a lower temperature setting.
(Hope that makes sense !)

Never heard of such thing as differing “heat strengths” between old and new elements, so perhaps I could add my curiosity to yours on this question? 😕
In all the years I’ve been replacing oven elements my only observation in that time is that perhaps the quality of elements varies tremendously between old and new? (Whatever that timeline is?) The quality of so called ‘pattern’ elements (equivalent) has improved greatly in recent years, that’s for sure but again the variation between differing types and hords of manufacturers make even that fact hard to quantify. :rolls:
Best just think of elements pretty much you would of the common or garden lightbulb? Some last for minutes, others can last for decades and that’s a fact! 😀
I hope your new Siemens oven element lasts forever, but you’ll still need the exact thermostat settings as with the old one, I’ll be bound…. 🙂

The quote is out of context here. What I had noticed in the rangemaster grill elements if changed singularly will show significant heat strength/glow/un even grilling etc.
The power rating of the elements are the same between old and new but age leads to weakness in heat output of the older element; hence my advice to change the two together, was what I was trying to get across. I thought that would have been obvious to you Martin 😕Greg

I’ll say, just a tad, dachwilson has a Siemens oven and that has no relation at all with a rangemaster grill. So well out of context as you say. 😉

Oh flip, I’m kicking myself right now for not knowing – ouch!

Do keep up, dachwilson referred to my last post which was about a Rangemaster in his first post in here, I was merely clarifying :rolls: 😀

This might help 😀 http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ic&t=24431 and to answer dachwilson, it was not a generic answer but purely to do with the rangemaster grill elements 🙂
