I can recollect seeing a few posts recently about a UK Whitegoods forthcoming book listing Error Codes etc.

What happened did this ever come to frutition or is it still in the making ?

    Re: UK WhiteGoods Publication ?

    It’s with the printers now.

    Cost still TBA. 😕

The problem is that, if I order 50 copies then it costs more than ordering 100 etc. which makes the cost variable, it’s a right PITA. I was trying the internet publishers, many of whom say that they can run prints off at something like £2 a copy, don’t believe a word of it! What they say they can do and what they actually can do are worlds apart.

First issue is about 80 odd pages of fault code and diagnostics across a wide range of brands and, because of the generosity of some members the next issue will be most likely close to double that.

I hope to have them available for pre-order this week as soon as I have pricing confirmed. Bear in mind that, the more we order, the cheaper it gets.

    Hi Ken,
If you are building a mailing list for these then include me on it.

    Hi Victor,

Keep an eye on the site, as soon as I have pricing etc. I’ll make it available for pre-order as the actual print run will take a week or so I think.

    Although I may have a cunning plan… 😈

Okay, this is highly experimental so, make like guinea pigs…

I’ve added the Fault Code Guide to the online store, you can see the page for it here, from this link

    DON’T BUY IT!!!… yet. 😉

If you use the update feature it means you get updated on the availability and price pretty much, or more precisely, when it is available and pricing is fixed then you should, in theory, get an update email. You have to create a login to do that though, sorry not much I can do about that.

The price is way over the top and it’s on the shop because..

a/ I don’t really want anyone ordering it
b/ I don’t really want the public buying it
c/ If the public are mad enough to pay that they deserve to get spanked up
d/ It’s a LOT easier for us to deal with that way
e/ It’s a lot easier for you to deal with that way
f/ Once installed we can give a discount code (once the module’s installed)

The first few are self explanatory.

The admin and postage etc is just so much easier for us to do using the shopping cart, so that cuts down the cost on handling. It really is that simple. The point is to make this available and as cost effective as possible, not to be silly about it.

The other thing is that site members will be given a discount code to bring it back to a sensible price. I’ll publish that within the trade forums as soon as I can.

It is expected, dependent on the damn printers, to cost between £11 and £15, I’m obviously hoping for the lower one. However, as I said, the more we order the lower the price goes.

There is a possibility that one or more spares distributors will also be carrying the book. Unconfirmed as yet due to the pricing issue.

Bear with me on this one as it’s the first time I’ve ever published a book, like actually in print on bits of paper and it’s proving to be more of a chore than I first thought it would be. Writing it consumed my life for three weeks and, TBH, I got sick fed up looking at fault codes and “drain problem” after a week of it! 😆

And, because of stupid copyright issues and the likes, I had to re-write almost every scrap of information, some of it to be fair to make sense at all as the original just didn’t.

But, in the true spirit in which UK Whitegoods was born, we’re still stickin’ it to the man… I managed to get almost all the Indesit codes done that are of any note including up to the Aqualtis. 😉

Next issue Miele’s gonna get a big surprise. 😆

Which is a thing, if you have any top tips and want your name in lights (well on paper) then by all means let me know and I’ll include them in the next one. I can’t change this one without introducing a delay. And, if you want to share, but don’t want to be known, there’s this dude that writes for us called “Mr Anonymous”, funny bloke, disappears without a trace. 😉
