I’m hoping somebody can help me, but I’m not sure if this post is in the right place!! My son kindly loaded our dishwasher after sunday lunch, and thoughtfully put some washing up liquid in with the load!!!?? After about three hours of trying to stop the foaming, and cleaning up the bubbly mess, the dishwasher just won’t stop the cycle. It has been on now for a total of about fourteen hours and that was meant to be the quick wash! I’ve managed to get rid of all the foam now, but the cycle continues, and doesn’t want to stop!! The cycle is using cold water btw if that helps!!
Pls PLS help!!?

You will almost certainly have flooded the base. Unplug the machine and place a few towels around it, then tilt it to one side, you should see water running out from inside the machine. I would then leave it for 24 hours to hopefully dry out. If you have any old type bar soap such as the green fairy or the yellow sunlight, rub all over the inside of the cabinet with this, this will help to break down the detergent. Some modern bars of soap will also work but the heavily perfumed ones or soap such as Dove will not. Then try the machine on a quick wash without crockery or the dishwasher detergent.

Ive also found that putting salt inside also helps.

Thanks guys, but I’ve managed to get rid of all the foam, but the cycle STILL doesn’t want to stop!!
I’m draining out any water in the bottom of the thing now, and then I’ll get it well dried out, but surely once I’ve done that, and I turn it back on it’ll just fill right back up again in seconds??

Hi
The water they mean is in the base underneath the machine not the water inside of machine

Sorry if I didn’t make it clear, as Washman says, we are referring to the base of the machine, these machines are prone to oversoaping at the best of times, particularly when 4 in 1 tablets are used. When the base floods a float switch rises and aborts the programme, switches on the pump and stays like that until you clear the water from the base. This function is to prevent the overflow from soaking the electrics and all the other gubbins which are in the base of the dishwasher.
