This information might come in useful for somebody and save them the hours it took me to find the cause of this fault .
The symptoms were that the door locked, some relays on the pcb clicked but the machine did nothing. I checked the motor brushes which weren’t badly worn but changed them anyway but the fault was still there. The insulation resistance of the machine was fine. Ordered a pcb and eprom from EMW but the problem remained. Brought the machine into the workshop at this point.
The helpful guy at EMW told me it was almost certainly a motor fault so I borrowed a new motor from a friend who very luckily just happened to have one, plugged it in on the floor and away it went 😀 ; hooray problem solved, or so I thought :rolls: . Made the mistake of phoning the customer up at this point to quote for new motor 😳
Fitted the motor to the machine and the problem was back again. Took it back off the machine, sat it on the floor and plugged it back in again; still nothing happened but suddenly there was a phut and a puff of smoke from the heater terminals. One of the wires had just broken off inside the terminal insulating cover where you can’t see it easily, and the other two were going the same way.
Repaired these and the machine was fine 😀 .
