Hi all,
The mains filter on my old Servis Quartz 600 washing machine decided to blow a hole in the side of the can yesterday.
Went to the spares shop in town this morning to get a replacement.
They didn’t have a Servis one but gave me an alternative that should fit.This new one though has five spade connectors on the end labelled 1U, 2L, 3U, 4N, Earth.
The old one has two connectors marked red and black and two wires that disappear in to the unit with fly leads on.
I’d rather not connect anything the wrong way round so was wondering if anyone could tell me the correct way to wire in this new filter unit.

1U, 2L are the live connections. 3U, 4N are the neutral connections. As you have a separate Earth terminal, you must make up a lead from that point to a suitable ground; either the terminal block or a bare metal screw connection on the casing. Test it before you fire it up……..

Pardon my ignorance, but are the ‘U’s the input or the output?
i.e. Which should I connect to the supply side?Graham.

‘U’s are the output side….live and neutral supply connect to ‘L’ and ‘N’ respectively.
As Chris says, don’t forget to make up an earth lead and connect to the terminal block/cabinet….
